Instructions to Celebrate 80th Independence Day
Department of School Education has issued certain instructions regarding the celebration of the 80th Independence Day on 15th August, 2026. These instructions are based on the Government Memo No.3336628/A1/General 2026-1, dated 14.07.2026 and this office Memo No.30/74/2025-A&I, dated 14.08.2025.

All Regional Joint Directors, District Educational Officers, and Heads of Schools are directed to ensure that Independence Day is celebrated in all Government, Local Body, Aided and Private Management Schools with proper dignity, enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.
The detailed instructions given below shall be followed strictly by all concerned without any deviation.

All the Regional Joint Directors of School Education and District Educational Officers/District School Educational Officers in the State are informed that 80th Independence Day will be celebrated on 15th August, 2026.
Therefore, all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education and District Educational Officers/District School Educational Officers in the State are hereby instructed to ensure that Independence Day is celebrated in all Government, Local Body, Aided and Private Management Schools with due dignity, enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.
The following instructions shall be followed:
1.
At the District Level, the National Flag shall be hoisted by the District Educational Officer.

At the School Level, the National Flag shall be hoisted by the Chairman, School Management Committee. In the absence of the Chairman, the Headmaster/Principal of the concerned school shall hoist the National Flag.

Patriotic songs, cultural programmes, speeches, essay writing, quiz competitions and other activities on the theme of Independence Day shall be organized.

All field officers shall ensure that the celebrations are conducted in a befitting manner in every school under their jurisdiction.
