🧑‍🏫 Eligibility Criteria for APTET 2025

📌 Paper 1A (Classes I–V Regular)

Candidates must have:

  • Intermediate (10+2) with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/BC/PwBD).
  • Along with 2-year D.El.Ed / 4-year B.El.Ed / 2-year D.Ed (Special Education).

Before 2011, candidates with 45% (40% for reserved categories) and 2-year D.El.Ed are eligible.


♿ Paper 1B (Classes I–V Special Education)

Candidates must have Intermediate (10+2) with:

  • 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/BC/PwBD), and
  • D.Ed in Special Education / Diploma in Community-Based Rehabilitation / Junior Diploma in Teaching the Deaf / Equivalent RCI course.

📘 Paper 2A (Classes VI–VIII Regular)

For Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, or Language Teachers:

  • Graduation with 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) + B.Ed / B.Ed (Special Education), or
  • 4-year B.El.Ed / B.A.Ed / B.Sc.Ed, or
  • 3-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed (Postgraduate with 55%).

Before 2011, candidates with 45% (40% for reserved categories) in Graduation + B.Ed are eligible.


🧩 Paper 2B (Classes VI–VIII Special Education)

Candidates must have:

  • Graduation or Post-Graduation (50%) + B.Ed (Special Education), or
  • B.Ed (General) with Diploma in Special Education, or
  • Any equivalent qualification approved by RCI.

🧮 Exam Structure and Pattern

The APTET 2025 exam is objective type (MCQ) with 150 questions for 150 marks. Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes.
No negative marking.

As per Supreme Court judgment (Civil Appeal No.1385/2025):

  • In-service teachers recruited before the RTE Act (2009) with 5+ years of service left must qualify in APTET.
  • Such teachers are exempted from eligibility criteria but must pass the TET.
