1. Overview of TGTET January 2026
The School Education Department, Government of Telangana is conducting
the Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TGTET) as per
RTE Act, 2009 and NCTE guidelines.
TGTET is mandatory for recruitment of teachers for Classes I to VIII
in Telangana State.

3. Eligibility Criteria for TGTET January 2026
All candidates who possess D.El.Ed / D.Ed / B.Ed / Language Pandit or
equivalent qualifications and candidates pursuing the final year of these courses with
required marks are eligible to appear for TGTET January 2026.
3.1 Eligibility for Paper-I (Classes I–V)
- Candidates with D.El.Ed or D.Ed recognized by NCTE
- Candidates with B.Ed degree as per NCTE norms, wherever applicable
- Final year students of these courses, subject to conditions in the Information Bulletin
3.2 Eligibility for Paper-II (Classes VI–VIII)
- Candidates with B.Ed / Language Pandit or equivalent qualifications
- Candidates pursuing final year of the above courses with required percentage of marks
3.3 Eligibility for In-Service Teachers
- All in-service teachers working in Government, Local Authority and Private
(Aided & Unaided) Schools are permitted to appear for TGTET or CTET. - Secondary Grade Teachers (SGT) and LFL Head Masters with
D.El.Ed and B.Ed qualifications may appear for Paper-I. - School Assistants, Language Pandits and Head Masters of High Schools
may appear for Paper-II.
Note: Mere qualification in TGTET does not guarantee appointment. Recruitment will be as per existing Government rules.

7.1 Qualifying Marks (Pass Criteria)

for reservation of differently abled (physically challenged) persons.

8. Validity & Weightage of TGTET Score
8.1 Validity of TGTET Certificate
The validity period of the TGTET qualifying certificate is
for life, unless otherwise notified by the Government of Telangana.
8.2 Weightage in Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT)
The TGTET score will carry 20% weightage in the
Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT) in Telangana State.
Remaining 80% weightage will be based on recruitment exam as per rules.
9. Examination Centers for TGTET January 2026
TGTET January 2026 will be conducted online as CBT in various districts of Telangana.
Candidates can submit their order of preference of examination centers (districts)
while filling the online application.
However, the Convenor, TGTET January 2026 reserves the right to allot candidates
to any examination district depending on the available capacity.
