AP Child Care Leave Rules 2025: Upper Age Limit Removed – G.O.Ms.No.70

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has issued an important order related to Child Care Leave (CCL) for government employees. As per G.O.Ms.No.70, Finance (HR-IV-FR&LR) Department, dated 15 December 2025, the government has removed the upper age limit of children for availing Child Care Leave. This decision brings major relief to women employees and eligible single male employees working in Andhra Pradesh.

What is Child Care Leave (CCL)?

Child Care Leave (CCL) is a special leave facility provided to government employees to take care of their children for the following purposes:

  • During school or college examinations
  • During sickness or medical treatment
  • For general care, upbringing, and supervision

Earlier, this leave was restricted based on the age of the child. With the latest government order, this age restriction has been completely removed.

Removal of Upper Age Limit

  • The upper age limit of children has been completely removed
  • Applicable to both normal children and differently-abled children

Eligible Employees

  • All women government employees
  • Single male government employees, including:
    • Unmarried
    • Widower
    • Divorcee

Total Child Care Leave Duration

  • A maximum of 180 days of Child Care Leave
  • Can be availed during the entire service period

Number of Spells Allowed

  • Child Care Leave can be availed in a maximum of 10 spells
  • Applicable even if part of the leave was already availed earlier

Previous Government Orders on Child Care Leave

The latest G.O.Ms.No.70 is based on the following earlier government orders:

  • G.O.Ms.No.132 (06-07-2016) – Introduced Child Care Leave (60 days) for women employees
  • G.O.Ms.No.33 (08-03-2022) – Enhanced CCL to 180 days and extended it to single male employees
  • G.O.Ms.No.199 (19-10-2022) – Increased the number of spells to 10
  • G.O.Ms.No.36 (16-03-2024) – Proposed removal of the upper age limit

The latest order officially implements the removal of the age restriction.

Effective Date of the Orders

  • The orders come into force from 15 December 2025
  • Applicable to all eligible employees currently in service
